CloudiFacturing - Wave 3

We are happy to announce that In silico is participating in the third wave of experiments within the CloudiFacturing project. Together with Ascalia, Wikki and Makabi, we are working on the 16th experiment called DIGITAL TWIN FOR OPTIMAL ENCAPSULATION.

Within this experiment, we aim to optimize the manufacturing process of capsules using the digital twin based on high-fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, supplemented by machine learning. The goal of the encapsulation process is to obtain capsules of specified diameter with a spherical shape, which highly depends on several input parameters. The input parameters govern the jet break-up process and are usually obtained by costly and time-consuming trial and error process. The proposed cloud-based solution would tackle these inefficiencies by providing engineers in the chemical, agriculture, pharmaceutical and similar industries an easy-to-use web-based application that would provide the optimal parameters based on the desired droplet size.

Our primary responsibilities within the experiment are the numerical modelling part, automatization of the CFD framework and successful deployment on the HPC.
